THE PRACTICE

Illustrating the practice-
The six short documentaries below accompany the written dissertation, providing live records and demonstrations of key practices and concepts developed during the PhD. The films include recorded drawings, models and movement from the research, as well as movement demonstration, explanation and re-enactment. All footage was recorded in or around the two locations of the research, namely my studio in Sligo, Ireland, and the site of the designs in the Western Cape of South Africa. Footage of the building designed using the new movement practices is also provided.
The bottom row of this web page, includes a booklet of sketchbook excerpts from Phase 1 that illustrate how material densities were felt and imagined around my body-self during movement. It also includes an image gallery of the main design trial process.
